Free Sample Yoga Classes: Capital Senior Center

Saturday, May 7, 2011 10 am. To 12 Noon
The Capital Senior Center will hold a free session for people interested in learning about the benefits of Yoga. Two instructors will demonstrate and lead participants in a sampling of the classes offered at the Center. Diane Barnes will offer three 15 minute segments to provide a brief experience of the three day classes offered at CSC: Beginner’s Yoga, Experienced Yoga, and Gentle Yoga for those with neuropathy, arthritis or other chronic conditions. These classes are based on yoga therapy and mindfulness practices. Rick Widdifield will offer an Anasura-inspired 45 minute sample class for those interested in trying the Wednesday evening Yoga class. Participants are encouraged to bring mats if they have them. BBB Business Trust EXPO: South Carolina State Farmers Market

Come join us Saturday May 21, 2011 at the new South Carolina State Farmers Market for the first annual BBB Business Trust EXPO. The Better Business Bureau, a leader in advancing marketplace trust, and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture are partnering to present the first annual event. The BBB Business EXPO is free to the general public and all visitors of the South Carolina Farmers Market that day. During the day, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with BBB Accredited Businesses and learn about local products and services. The mission of the event is to introduce consumers in our community to businesses they can TRUST! We anticipate a festive spring day, with lots of great information, valuable door prizes and a free "Shred Day" provided by SHRED 360 (*limit 2 boxes*) for the visiting public. Visit Edisto Memorial Gardens!

Visit the Edisto Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg where you can see award-winning roses among the 4,800 plants representing over 120 labeled varieties of roses along the banks of the Edisto River. The gardens are one of 23 official test gardens sanctioned by the All-America Rose Selections, Inc. The Horne Wetlands Park in the gardens features a 2,600 foot boardwalk between the rose garden and the Edisto River. On the boardwalk you can observe a 1941 water wheel, based on irragation wheels from the orient, which has performed the important function of watering the gardens. Edisto Memorial Gardens also have the only Angel of Hope monument in South Carolina and only one of 90 in the U.S. The monument is dedicated to children who prematurely lost their lives.
