Cinderella: Koger Center for the Arts
Friday February 4, 2011 - Saturday February 5, 2011 Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you... especially if you’re in the audience at Columbia City Ballet’s Cinderella. Like its ballet sibling Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella was composed by Sergei Prokofiev during World War II and was first performed by the Bolshoi in 1945. The production, based on the French fairy tale as told by Charles Perrault, centers on the theme of a young girl’s honesty and modesty triumphing over the greed and arrogance of her stepsisters and stepmother. This classic features Regina Willoughby and Mark Krieger in the lead roles, with the comic brilliance of the stepsisters portrayed by two local actors en travesti. See how the young heroine finds love and triumphs over the greed and scorn of her stepfamily as she discovers how one shoe can change her life. “Handsomely produced and marvelously danced, Cinderella made every fan’s wishes come true.” Savannah Morning News |

Sanctum : Carmike 14 and Regal Sandhill Stadium 16 Theaters
Opens Friday, February 4, 2011 The 3-D action-thriller Sanctum, from executive producer James Cameron, follows a team of underwater cave divers on a treacherous expedition to the largest, most beautiful and least accessible cave system on Earth. When a tropical storm forces them deep into the caverns, they must fight raging water, deadly terrain and creeping panic as they search for an unknown escape route to the sea. Shot on location off the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, Sanctum employs 3-D photography techniques Cameron developed to lens Avatar. Designed to operate in extreme environments, the technology used to shoot the action-thriller will bring audiences on a breathless journey across plunging cliffs and into the furthest reaches of our subterranean world. |
